Legacies and Gifts in Wills fund a significant proportion of our work and we are extremely grateful to those who generously support us in this way. Without this incredible generosity, we could not continue our vital work.
Leaving a gift to Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital in your Will is a fantastic way of contributing to the protection and conservation of British wildlife for future generations.
YOUR SUPPORT CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
For over 50 years, Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital has been a trusted and respected provider of wildlife casualty care and specialist knowledge. Our work focuses on wildlife rehabilitation, conservation, education, and community engagement. We support local veterinary practices, RSPCA inspectors, Wildlife Police Officers, and members of the public by rescuing, treating, and rehabilitating injured and orphaned wildlife, with the aim of releasing healthy animals back into their natural habitats.
The recently published State of Nature Report highlights that the UK remains one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world. Wildlife is under increasing pressure, with over 70 bird species now listed on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, and even the much-loved hedgehog facing the risk of extinction. This stark reality underlines the urgent need for action. With your support, Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital can continue providing life-saving care for injured wildlife while contributing to wider conservation efforts.
The challenges and threats facing British wildlife are as prominent as ever, but we remain as resilient as ever to always be on-hand to care for a wild animal in need. A gift in your Will, however small or large, will help ensure that we remain here for British wildlife, protecting, caring, rehabilitating, and offering wild animals a second chance at a life in the wild. Your legacy will be giving wildlife a second chance in the wild – where they belong.

NEXT STEPS
Your Will is personal and it is entirely your decision to leave a legacy to us. However, if you do choose to let us know we will be able to acknowledge your generosity. A pledge to a charity is not legally binding. We do therefore recommend you consult with a solicitor or expert legal advisor to discuss which type of gift would be best for you and to ensure the wording of your Will is correct, legal and valid.
Deciding which type of gift you leave is important, here are a few examples.
-
A Pecuniary Gift is a fixed value. We benefit most when gifts are made for the general charitable purposes of the Charity. Your gift can then be used where it is most needed at the time we receive it.
-
A Residuary Gift is a percentage or share of your estate, once all other payments and gifts to loved ones have been considered. This is a popular gift because it keeps in line with inflation and does not lose value over time.
-
A Codicil Gift can easily be added if you already have a Will set up. You can download and complete our Codicil Form and keep it with your existing Will.
You can also download or request a copy of our Legacy Pledge Leaflet for further information.
Key points to remember - Charities can sometimes go through changes in name or legal structure. It is therefore important that you include a clause to ensure your gift is transferable, should we ever change our Charity name, number or merge in the future. We benefit most when gifts are made for the general charitable purposes of the Charity. Your gift can then be used where it is most needed at the time we receive it. Anything you leave to charity in your Will is also free from Inheritance Tax.

GET IN TOUCH
Thank you for considering to support us. Once you have decided to leave a gift to us and you have made all the necessary legal arrangements we love to hear from you by making a Pledge, so that we can make a note of your generosity and discuss how you would like your gift acknowledged at the time we receive it. It is important to us that we highlight how your gift could make a difference to us, so we would love to keep you up to date with our work via our newsletters and give you a private tour of our hospital site.
WHY SUPPORT
BRENT LODGE

“As an animal lover I have spent my life rescuing animals in need. Brent Lodge has always shown compassion and dedication to helping wild animals. Knowing that injured and vulnerable wildlife are cared for with such expertise and kindness gives me great comfort when I bring any patients to the hospital. By leaving a gift in my Will, I feel I am helping to protect the animals that cannot speak for themselves and supporting the people who work tirelessly to give them a second chance. It’s a way of giving something back, long into the future, to a cause that truly matters to me and will go on to help hundreds of wild animals get healthy for release.” Sharon - Will Pledger
MEMORIAL
DONATIONS
.jpg)
We appreciate that not everyone is in a position to leave a gift in their Will. Asking loved ones to make ‘In Memoriam’ donations instead of accepting gifts, flowers or traditional tokens is also a wonderful way to celebrate someone’s life, and enables their love of wildlife to continue through our work.
SMALL
DONATIONS

A small one-off donation such as £1,000 could fund a small building project like this Patient Recovery Shed. A memorial plaque can be added to any building or project site naming you or a loved one.
LARGE
DONATIONS

Larger gifts can fund enclosures or rehabilitation projects. These have previously funded bird of prey and mammal enclosures - giving rehabilitating birds the space they need to recuperate prior to their release back to their natural habitats.
ESTATE
PERCENTAGE

As little as 2% of an estate could help purchase vital equipment or additional medicines, food and animal care staff during a busy patient admission season.
FUND
BUILDINGS
Large gifts could help fund a significant portion of building projects. Previous large gifts have enabled us to fund this Patient Admissions Building - providing a veterinary and patient treatment area for some of our most critically sick and injured patients. Watch our YouTube video to find out how previous gifts have been used and how your support can help fund our work.
WITHOUT THE SUPPORT OF ANIMAL LOVERS WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO CONTINUE OUR WORK
